Dr. Ralphs earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Vermont. During her undergraduate studies, she began working at a local veterinary clinic—an experience that sparked her passion for veterinary medicine. She went on to pursue her veterinary degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2003. Following graduation, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Minnesota, where she also met her husband.

Her path into veterinary medicine was not always straightforward. While majoring in Nutritional Sciences in college, she found herself searching for inspiration. One day, she came across an advertisement for a veterinary assistant position at a nearby clinic. Starting with basic responsibilities like cleaning cages, she quickly took on more advanced roles, eventually assisting in surgery and patient care. It was then she realized she had found her calling.

Dr. Ralphs joined the Portsmouth Veterinary Clinic team in 2007 and became the Managing Veterinarian in 2023. Her professional interests include emergency medicine, surgery, and feline medicine—although she proudly considers herself a devoted dog lover as well. She is an active member of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).

For Dr. Ralphs, being a veterinarian is the perfect blend of empathy, intellectual challenge, and the opportunity to strengthen the human-animal bond—something she brings to her work every day.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Ralphs enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, Dr. Chris Ralphs, a veterinary surgeon, and their two daughters. In her free time, she loves hiking in the White Mountains, gardening, mountain biking, and reading. She shares her home with a Standard Poodle named Lloyd and three special-needs cats—Beatrice, Carl, and Juno.
